Editorial Policy
PayAtlas USA publishes salary intelligence for federal and state public-sector compensation. This policy explains how we create content, label data, and handle corrections.
Sources
Federal pay figures come from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM). Occupational wage statistics cited on occupation pages come from the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics program. State tax and cost-of-living context is documented on each state hub with linked official sources.
Illustrative vs. Official Data
Multi-role salary tables on state hubs use PayAtlas illustrative estimates for side-by-side sector comparison unless a row is explicitly tied to a cited official release. Occupation pages with BLS-backed JSON files show survey medians for that occupation. We label illustrative data on the page where it appears.
Review Process
Guides are authored or reviewed by researchers familiar with federal and state pay systems. Each guide and salary page shows a last-updated date when content or underlying JSON is refreshed. We run schema validation on data files at build time.
Corrections
If you believe a figure or explanation is wrong, email contact@payatlasusa.com with the page URL, the value in question, and a link to an official source. We investigate and publish corrections promptly.
Authors
Guides and salary pages are attributed to the PayAtlasUSA Team. Content is AI-generated and reviewed against official BLS, IRS, and state agency sources. We do not use fabricated individual author names or credentials.
